Center for Disease Control Drafts Formal Recommendation: All Male Infants Born in the U.S. Be Circumcised.
That headline get your attention?

Howdy Folks,

Did you read the NY Times article Officials Weigh Circumcision to Fight H.I.V. Risk on how the Center for Disease Control, which is raising all the panic about H1N1 viruses and vaccination and such, has drafted a formal recommendation that all male infants born in the U.S. be circumcised as a way to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS? Of course there is not a lot of science here, but whether this actually serves to prevent the disease, which tends to be related to a problem normally associated with gay men, remains unknown. No study was done, but anecdotal evidence suggests it makes no difference.

Now that I have your attention (at least you men), here’s some financial perspective.

Before we all get warm and fuzzy about a bit of seemingly good news here and there, recall what happened in the Great Depression. The crash of '29 saw the markets rise and fall until 1933. So keep those trailing stops in place and hope we can get a few more points out of this market, although in my mind it is terribly overextended.

Today, we saw an unexpected rise in new home sales, offset by a mixed durable goods order and a slide in commodity prices. New Home Sales were up 9.6% in June month over month with upward revisions in both April and May. The median price continues to fall however, down 12% in June to $210,000. This represents a 7.5 month supply of new homes; emphasis on new.

Durable Goods superficially looked quite good rising 4.9% in July month over month. This was the largest gain in two years. BUT when you dissect the numbers removing really big ticket purchases like airplanes and military orders, it really fell by 0.3% after rising 3.6% in June. Capacity utilization still remains at historic lows of 68.5%, about the same as the previous month.

Treasuries ended mixed after the somewhat conflicting economic readings, but gained on a government auction of 5-year notes drawing strong investor demand. The yield on the 2-year note was unchanged at 1.06%, while the yield on the 10-year note decreased 1 BP to 3.43%, and the yield on the 30-year bond dropped 3 bps to 4.19%.

Tomorrow is the day to watch with GDP for the 2nd Q coming out, as well as weekly initial jobless claims with expectations of the latter circling around a 565,000 number. This is hardly any indication of recovery. If you don't believe me, go to the Wall Street Journal and read the article titled The Economy Is Even Worse Than You Think.

Go get a beer or take your meds before proceeding.

When is government going to get out of our lives? Probably not for a while and things are probably going to get a lot worse before they start to get better.

I have been putting off writing about Czar Mania because it is just too scary and unbelievable. This is what is being referred to by some as the Shadow Government, all handpicked to advise our supreme leader. If there is any doubt about whether he is governing from the left, right or center, this should convince you; if you remain unconvinced you are a loon of the worst sort and have swallowed Obama’s Socialist-Marxist Kool-Aid!

A lot of conservatives have been focused on the Czar issue and while all presidents have had a Czar or two, no one has ever used them as effectively as the Great One to game the system of checks and balances. The current best guess as to the number of these unelected and un-vetted for the most part, duplicators of responsibilities of cabinet members, is 32. But that does not count the Cyber Czar, or the Diversity Czar over at the FCC, or rumors of a Health Insurance Czar, or a Copyright Czar.

Wake Up America! This is the stuff real revolutions are made of.

Questions need to be asked; who are these people? Some are better known than others, but a quick look into the backgrounds of a few will cause you to start to wonder about just who is advising our President. The ones currently on the hot list are:

Van Jones, the avowed Communist, felon, and past radical community organizer running the Green Jobs agenda. That agenda is now $500 million with ZERO accountability as to where and to whom those funds will flow.

You might also have been wondering who writes all these 1000 page bills that spring from nowhere and remain unread. As we reported, the Stimulus Bill was written by the Apollo Group founded by Jeffrey Jones, of Bill Ayers and Weather Underground fame. Jeff Jones is a founder of the Weather Underground, along with Bill Ayers, and is the founder of Apollo that is HQ’d in NY. According to Harry Reid, Jones, together with Van Jones, has been very helpful and supportive in the drafting of the Stimulus Bill. Jones apparently focused on the “greenie” parts of the Bill to "better our nation." Sounds like just the kind of guy you would want on your staff. Jones, is a founder of STORM, a known Marxist organization.

Cass Sunstein AKA the "Nudger" is the guy that believes you start by nudging people in the right direction. He is also the rabid animal rights guy who wants to ban hunting and give animals access to the courts to defend their rights. He is a believer in behavioral science and has done comparative research on quality of life issues.

This has led to examination of his association with Peter Singer, his mentor. Singer, a bioethics professor at Princeton University, is also a leader in the animal rights movement. He has also argued that abortion should be permissible because unborn babies as old as 18 weeks cannot feel pain or satisfaction. Singer once explained his belief saying, "killing a newborn baby is never equivalent to killing a person, that is, a being who wants to go on living."

Oh, did I mention how he feels about the Internet? He explicitly supports using the courts to impose a “chilling effect” on speech that might hurt someone’s feelings. He thinks that the bloggers have been rampaging out of control and that new laws need to be written to rein them in and corral them.

Advance copies of Sunstein’s new book, On Rumors: How Falsehoods Spread, Why We Believe Them, What Can Be Done, has gone out to reviewers ahead of its September publication date. But considering the prominence with which Sunstein is about to be endowed, his worrying views are fair game now.

Sunstein is President Obama’s choice to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. It’s the bland titles that should scare you the most. “Although obscure,” reported the Wall Street Journal, “the post wields outsize power. It oversees regulations throughout the government, from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Obama aides have said the job will be crucial as the new administration overhauls financial-services regulations, attempts to pass universal health care and tries to forge a new approach to controlling emissions of greenhouse gases.” Sounds like another wonder-nut kind of guy that should be advising the President.

The Science Czar is John Holdren, another real piece of work. At one point he advocated sterilizing people as a means of population control via seeding the water supply. He has been involved in debates advocating compulsory abortion, having said such things recently as to the government’s ability to limit procreation. I guess much like China, except we are not China, and specifically said that the US Constitution would sustain such a law!!!!!!!!!!

Holdren, who co-authored this book in 1977, is now the man firmly in control of America’s science policy. Here are just a few of the things he has said:

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;

• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;

• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;

• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (I.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” - in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized;

• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.

No this guy is no radical, it was just how he thought back in 1977.. As a rehabilitated nut job I would be sure to listen to him too.

Carol Browner, ex head of the EPA under Clinton, and now Obama's "Energy and Climate Czar", is a self-acknowledged Socialist, and as recently as January was listed as one of Socialist International's climate change directors. This group seeks to undermine the American government and set policy through international legislation that supersedes U.S. law. She is also the same person in an interview on 30 June who had to be asked 4 times if she had read the Cap and Trade Bill, the signature bill proposed by Big O on Climate Change. The best answer she could give is that she had read "vast portions of it" but didn't seem to be all that familiar with any part of it. I thought that was reserved only for those in Congress. Yep she is another of the Great One’s great picks.

I want to leave you on a high note. Watch this video A MARINE VET SPEAKS OUT at an August 18, 2009 Town Hall Meeting with U.S. Congressman Brian Baird; he speaks his mind with complete clarity and voice.

This is the kind of stuff that makes for pleasant dreams.
