Howdy Folks,
So while you were hunkered down Congress was busy slamming healthcare and pork through in the middle of the night. They managed to pass a 1.1 Trillion dollar appropriations bill to cover deficits of some 10 government agencies so they could continue to waste our tax dollars. But even worse news, if it could be worse, was the 5000 earmarks for $497 Billion included as non departmental spending. That wasn't all. They got another 2000 page bill coming down the pike to "regulate" the financial industry; like it has never been regulated before. I understand right behind it there is another 2000 page bill on illegal immigrant amnesty; unread and unafraid of what American’s think. Clearly, our imperial Congress doesn’t give a damn about what you and I think and will continue to ram through “history making” social controlling legislation that will dramatically change America and our lives. All we can hope to do is take control of the House and/or Senate and STOP the funding that will be required to implement this outrageous social engineering legislation before it bankrupt this country. This Congress is committing political suicide and they are too stupid and arrogant to care.
Meanwhile, I hope you caught the Thursday premiere show of consumer reporter and Liberarian John Stossel. This was his first Fox show since moving over from ABC's 20/20 News. Presumably he has a lot more editorial freedom toward providing real news rather than spewing one sided propaganda.
His first topic was wading into the controversy about global warming. His guests were the energy expert at the Cato Institute’s Jerry Taylor and Stephan Dubner, the author of SuperFreakonomics, a book that proposes unconventional solutions to geo-engineering. Stossel tried to get Mr. Inconvenient Truth himself, carbon spewing "Honest Al” Gore, but he declined as he was busy trying to cover up the Climategate hacking job; Al doesn't do interviews. O perhaps he was busy doing due diligence on a “green investment” opportunity for his UK green investment firm “Blood & Gore.” Suggest you read Chris Janelli’s recent article on this (http://distressedpatriots.us/patriots66.html).
Like Ol' Joey Biden, Al has a lot of trouble with getting the facts correct, like the temperature of the earth's core; remember the liberal hoopla over Dan Quail spelling potato? Al’s earth core temperature statement (which is something HE should really know) was – literally – a million times more stupid; and this from a Nobel Peace recipient who received it for environmental knowledge. Be that as it may, it was a great show for Stossel with a live audience of largely environmentalist and students who asked some great questions and got great answers. You should watch this if you have a few minutes to hear what American’s are asking and saying. Here are a few of the show segments on YouTube.

If you can't spare 45 minutes to watch these and form your own opinion, here’s my take on all of this.
It is highly doubtful that the science is there to support man's overwhelming influence to global warming, let alone green house gasses, and whether it is even a problem that needs to be addressed today, within our generation’s lifetime or even our kids' lifetime. For all the hoopla we are talking about, the earth's atmospheric temperatures having risen only one half of 1% in the last 100 years.
Admittedly, we world has become far more industrialized in the last 50 years than in the last 100. But to put it in perspective, if every country which signed the Kyoto accords, and if we included the United States which signed conditionally subject to China and India participating, and every country indeed met its obligation, which won’t happen, then we are talking about the possibility of a reduction of earth’s temperature of only 1/10 of 1% between now to 2050.
Notwithstanding what Al Gore would have you believe, the facts are that for the last ten years the earth's temperature has been cooling; not rising! And it is quite possible that scientists have manipulated the numbers to even get this theoretical temperature rise. Therefore, this has nothing to do with manmade global warming, but everything to do with power, total governmental control and loss of freedoms; and for Honest Al, Chairman of “Blood & Gore” lots of juicy investment opportunities.
If you watch the above segments, the questions from the students in the audience were very good. However, what was missing was some common sense. The best defense against global warming is continuing to strengthen the development of all nations and lift the poorest ones out of poverty. It is only wealthy nations who can afford to develop the technologies to combat environmental pollution and other planetary risks. It was cited that each year 170,000 deaths are caused by global warming in the form of famine, droughts, malaria, etc. (don't focus on the numbers as I pulled them from the show and have not independently confirmed them). This may or may not be true, but what is true is that millions of humans are annually saved because of electricity being brought to those without it, thus eliminating indoor pollution from cooking fires killing occupants, deforestation for cooking fuel, fuel to boil unclean bacteria carrying water, heat to stay warm, growth in food production, building of water treatment plants and other electrical benefits; even if these improvements are at the expense of burning fossil fuels.
In a recent survey, global warming ranked 36th on a list of things that bothered people most, so it seems to me that fixing our economy and controlling government spending might significantly outweigh worrying about whether the water level is going to increase 1/2 foot in the next 100 years. By the way, another common sense issue seems to be that even if you believed in the 3% event risk that some diabolical event would transpire over a period of years, (which is more likely to be a catastrophic volcanic eruption, a tsunami hitting the west coast of the USA or a major earthquake than CO2), are we really worried that we won't have a few years to maybe do something about the environment? If we were a strongly – and honestly - led nation, we might be better able to deal with it all and developing like there was no tomorrow our abundant clean energy – natural gas. On this score savvy capitalists, like Boone Pickens, have it right, but our current DC leadership is more focused on how to control and deny us drilling for our own gas reserves right here in America, not free us. Under current leadership we are fast becoming a bankrupt nation who follow charlatans like the chicken little, carbon spewing, self serving Al Gore. Think about it.
In closing, let me say that the fact that I do not believe in Global Warming being a man made anything, and that some "scientists" and this administration are trying their best to perpetrate fraud in trying to make it something else, it has nothing to do with the fact that I think we should have clean water and clean air- clean of real pollutants.
